As provided by its charter, the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation promotes research in the field of telecommunications and carries out activities devoted to the knowledge and diffusion of Guglielmo Marconi’s scientific activity. The Foundation is managed by a board of directors appointed by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage.
Professional training and teaching play a major role in the activities the Foundation coordinates. Of particular note is the Master in Radio Communication Engineering established in 1995, which organises courses and seminars every year.
In addition to Marconi Foundation researchers, also researchers of the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" - DEI (University of Bologna) and of the Ugo Bordoni Foundation work at the historic facilities of Villa Griffone.
Their research focuses on two major fields: 1) mobile and personal communication systems, with a special focus on radio access and propagation; and 2) the computer-assisted design of non-linear microwave devices.
