June 2th, 2009
Swiss Museum of Sound and Image, Montreux

The celebrations for the Guglielmo Marconi Nobel Prize centenary took place on the occasion of the Republic Day reception offered by the Italian Consul General for the Cantons of Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Valais and Vaud.

The celebrations were attended by Consul Adolfo Barattolo, the President of the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation, the Mayor of Montreaux, the Director of the Swiss Museum of Sound and Image and Elettra Marconi Giovanelli, Guglielmo Marconi’s daughter.

On the occasion, soprano Véronique Mercier sang both Italian and Swiss national anthems.

David Sarnoffsarnoff

Marconi was the creator of the present day civilization of the radio. All of those who, with spirit of initiative and perseverance, have brought us to the present stage of development have built on the foundations laid by Marconi. Everyone considered him the tutelary genius of their work.
