March 28th-April 13th, 2009 In the year of Marconi Nobel Prize centenary, the town of Candelo (Biella) in cooperation with the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation, the Biella Radio Amateurs Association and the Florence Italradio Committee has paid tribute to its famous citizen through a exhibition and a roundtable conference dedicated to Professor Vincenzo Rosa, Guglielmo Marconi’s first teacher. Vincenzo Rosa was born in Turin on June 11th 1848. In 1884 he married Aurelia Pozzo, from Candelo, and died at Candelo in 1908. The exhibition A NOBEL TEACHER: VINCENZO ROSA AND GUGLIELMO MARCONI opened on Saturday, March 28th and closed on April 13th. Still on March 28th, after celebrating the new Via Rosa (Rosa Street, named after Vincenzo Rosa) with the local Candelo S. Giacomo Band and after visiting Villa Rosa, where a plaque was set, the roundtable conference "Vincenzo Rosa, Marconi’s teacher, 100 years after the Nobel Prize to the 'father' of Wireless" was held with the participation of Elettra Marconi Giovanelli, Professor Gabriele Falciasecca, speakers from the Italradio Committee (Luigi Cobisi, Saverio Meloni, Paolo Morandotti), members of the Sella Foundation and of Professor Rosa’s family.
